Are you too lazy to cook anything? Just head to the kitchen and have yourself a banana. It’s one of the best bedtime snacks for weight loss. A single banana has a chockfull of minerals and other ingredients that encourage a restful sleep without the calories.

Bananas can have as much as 487 mg of potassium for a large piece – that’s about 10 percent of the daily recommended intake for adults and more than enough to relax your muscles. Magnesium is another mineral found in significant amounts in every serving of banana. Like potassium, it is a muscle relaxant. A banana may contain up to 37 mg of magnesium, which accounts for 9 to 12 percent of the daily recommended intake in men and women, respectively. So if you’ve had a stressful day or have one or more tense muscles, you can eat a piece and say hello to the sandman in a few minutes.

Bananas also contain both tryptophan and melatonin. Tryptophan is converted to the neurotransmitter serotonin once fully digested and induces sleepiness. Melatonin provokes the same sleepy effect once assimilated by the body. Because they are packed with fiber and have zero fat, you don’t have to worry about packing up on weight.

Don’t forget to pair it with a glass of warm milk! The bedtime duo is far more effective than eating bananas alone.
